Hamilton Seniors Isolation Impact Plan (HSIIP) partners are pleased to announce that the Retired Teachers of Ontario Foundation (RTO/ERO Foundation) has provided a generous grant that contributes to addressing seniors’ isolation in Hamilton. The grant is being used to create a Social Participation Fund which will help low income seniors access community services and activities they are referred to by HSIIP Care Connectors. The Fund will assist in covering expenses relating to caregiver relief, program fees, and transportation.
The RTO/ERO Foundation’s generous support will help us to address an important gap facing isolated seniors with low-incomes. The RTO/ERO Foundation aims to enhance the quality of life for aging adults through the funding of applied research and post-secondary training in geriatrics and gerontology; and community-based programs to address social isolation in older adults. The Foundation was established in 2011 with the support of its founding benefactor, the Retired Teachers of Ontario, and inspired by the philanthropic spirit of retired teachers and other members of the education community.
